JCS College and Career Advisor - Emily Kianka
I am originally from a small town in New Jersey near Princeton University. In high school I played soccer and ran track and field. My high school soccer team won the state championships my senior year, which was an amazing way to end my soccer career. In track and field, high jump was my main event where I was locally and nationally ranked for my junior and senior year.
I continued my high jump career as a Division I student-athlete at the University of Virginia. Being a student-athlete at the University of Virginia was one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences, but it has also given me so many opportunities in life. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I went back to New Jersey to get a master’s degree in student affairs and college counseling from Monmouth University. I moved here to Jefferson and began a job as an academic advisor for the University of Georgia. After two and half years of being an academic advisor I knew that I wanted to work with middle school and high school students/parents on helping with career and college readiness.
I live here in Jefferson with my fiancé, Chase and my two dogs. In October 2018 Chase and I are getting married, so please be aware that at the end of October my last name will be changing to Bass!
